Tiny Village Kitchen
2023
Community Engaged Learning
This project was a collaborative effort with USF’s Community Engaged Learning Studio.
This indoor and outdoor kitchen, nestled within a vibrant community farm and garden, was designed for the RPAL (Richmond Police Activities League) youth program. My kitchen design process began with a focus on outdoor use, encouraging users to connect directly with the surrounding community garden, fostering a sense of unity with nature. Central to this vision is an elegant wooden beam pergola that seamlessly bridges the indoor and outdoor spaces.
With the space intended for youth culinary cooking classes, the design also offers the flexibility to extend to adult culinary courses. To further promote community togetherness, the project incorporates makerspaces, creating opportunities for shared learning and engagement across generations.
Through this design, the kitchen not only nurtures the culinary aspirations of Richmond’s youth but also provides a shared resource for the entire community.
